“Originally from the small wine-making town of Tarcal, Hungary, Tomi lived in the capital city Budapest for 10 years before moving to the USA in 2005. He learned to play the guitar from his father, and after years of performing with rock bands, he turned to conservatory-educated jazz guitarist Tamas Mohai as his mentor and guitar teacher. In Minnesota he attended and graduated from MCTC’s Sound Arts program and won the Sound Arts Excellence Award for sound engineering.”
Residing in the Twin Cities, I have toured, performed, and collaborated with many local, national, and international artists. On the local music scene I got the nickname / stage name T-Time or Ttime. Some of the artists and bands I have performed with: Shawn Holt (Lil’ Slim), Magic Slim, Retrophonic, Altamir Coelho, Groove Steady, Rick Figueroa, Soul Acoustics, The Not Guilty Band, Chance Howard (keyboardist to Prince), Peter Gerendas.
Two of my favorite projects are The Not Guilty Band and Soul Acoustics. The Not Guilty Band was 8-10 piece funk, r&b and soul group that played custom arrangements of some of the best-loved classic and modern hits of these genres. The band performed successfully for over 8 years. Soul Acoustics started as a duo project with my friend, the late great Rick Figueroa. I now use Soul Acoustics as the name for any acoustic jazz and Latin projects I do with other artists or as a standalone performer.
I released my long-awaited album in April, 2022. It’s an album that was recorded over the years with some of the finest musicians the Twin Cities have to offer. I have reworked the material that has been in my “vault” and I am very excited to show it to the public.
